Just finished these new penguin patterns. They both worked up in under an hour, so they are quick projects. These are done in brick stitch or odd count peyote. They were both smaller than I expected, and oh so cute. Both use less than 7 colors. I think I will make them into pins, or perhaps a necklace, we shall see. My birds made into pins...

So I finally made up a new bracelet: a monarch butterfly design. I spent almost the whole day finishing it up, and finally got it done with a matching beaded toggle clasp.
I was going to wait till tomorrow to finish it up, but I figured I might as well just get it all done with, so I took the pictures for the bracelet today. I will post the pattern/kit tomorrow. I beaded up a Metallic Cheetah and a White Owl Today. The owl took about an hour, the Cheetah about 3 1/2. I am going to put the cheetah on a gold-filled chain once it arrives. The owl has several larger versions available. And I have a metallic fox in the works that will compliment the cheetah very nicely. I almost didn't do the pattern for the fox, but my niece encouraged me to try again, because she LOVES foxes. The Cheetah is around 2 inches, the owl is around 1 inch. Really enjoyed picking the beads out for the cheetah. Uses lots of metallic beads. Haven't listed the cheetah pattern yet, but that is coming soon. Also, I finally found pinbacks I like, some small circular ones, as shown on the dachshund that I made for my mother. And I finished the peacock! It felt like it took forever, probably a couple months because so much has been going on lately. I hope to bead it onto a wooden dowel, and add fringe, etc to finish it off. But first I am getting some new projects done. I have the patterns prepped for the peacock, hopefully I will get them listed this week. Just finished this cute little bear. Had to start it over as some of the colors weren't contrasting right, so I had to pick new ones. Took about 3 hours, has 6 colors and measures about 2 1/2 inches by 2 inches. I am going to turn it into a necklace when I get a chance, but would make an adorable pin as well. But I haven't bought the pin backs that I picked out yet, so haven't gotten that far. No wordcharts for these, but on this one you can work up in brick or odd count peyote. Pattern/Kit coming next week. 7-11-17
Just got around to turning this into a necklace. Made it a little different with a black chain instead of the usual gold or silver, with coordinating swarovski beads. I haven't made any of these type of patterns (brick stitch) in quite a long while. But I like that I can bead them up relatively fast. I haven't figured out what I want to do with these, but they will either end up as a pendant necklace or a keychain. My first one was a cat of course. My second one was modeled after my Molly dog, and I beaded it up in odd-count peyote. It is not easy doing black dogs, but this turned out really nice, and a good, sweet example of the breed. Others I might make: Beagle, Chihuahua, Chick, Corgi, dolphin, Elephant, English Bulldog, penguin, pig, tiger, bunny, and another colorful cat. They are fun, simple projects that one could do in an afternoon. I beaded up the dachshund in under 2 hours. :) I believe the cat took around 2 hours as well. I highly recommend the fireline thread. I did the cat with c-lon thread and it kept knotting, etc, which made it more frustrating than it needed to be. I hardly sell any of my beaded items. I know I would if I ever went to shows, but that just doesn't happen.
Anyway, I sell a couple of my items a year. I just sold a panda bracelet, then I sold another about 2 weeks later, which for me, doesn't happen very often. So I beaded another one up, took me two days and about 7-8 hours. I like 2-drop peyote, seems to bead up quicker, but perhaps not by much. Next I am going to make either a dragon, rose, or butterflies bracelet. I even have an adorable rubber ducky bracelet that I want to make. Kinda quirky, but so cute. Of course, I need to finish my peacock first. Which is coming along nicely, just started on its wings, so yip-yip.. Every now and again I take on custom pattern requests. Most pictures do not make good patterns. In fact, most do not turn out well at all.
And I am quite the perfectionist. And then there is reducing the colors used, doing major clean up and repair duty, then turning it into an actual pdf pattern, all which even for a simple pattern, can take at least an hour, always more. Usually when I work on a pattern, I will let it sit for a while, then look at it again to see if I missed something or if anything needs correcting. Bracelet patterns take me an extra long time because I bead up those and need to take extra pictures. I actually have almost 100 patterns sitting there that are still in the WIP category. Anyway, I just had a custom pattern request. The birds took about 2 1/2 - 3 hours to do, not including putting the pattern together. I always go over each and every bead color, checking them, replacing them, combining, cleaning them up if need be. The bird started with like 132 colors, I managed to reduce it down to 44. Both turned out really well, which doesn't happen very often. But the white on the bird helped, as did the simple design of Jesus. I don't have time for elaborate custom designs, so this worked out nicely. Examples are shown below. Kinda fun to compare. I am hoping to have more time so I can finish up my peacock. I am doing the larger version of the pattern to make sure all the details are okay, so I haven't done anything so big in a while. After that, I am going to make a simple bracelet. I need simple! I crave simple. And a design with a few colors. Actually, I just want a quick project next. I feel like I am behind, which I can't allow myself to believe because one then feels like they aren't getting anywhere. So many projects! Only one me! And none of my family wants to learn how to bead. So all my examples, I do on my own. I don't even have time for recreational beading, like another 3D box, or a mini beaded animal for my niece. But hopefully that day will come again soon.
